Incumbent Governor Ademola Adeleke has been officially declared the winner of the Saturday, August 15, 2026, Osun State governorship election.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) State Returning Officer, Professor Joshua Olalekan Ogunwole, announced the final results on Sunday morning at the collation centre in Osogbo.

Securing a second four-year term in office, Adeleke won the election on the platform of the Accord Party after his strategic defection from the PDP late last year.

According to INEC official figures, Adeleke of the Accord Party secured a decisive victory (511,067 votes) over his primary opponents: The All Progressives Congress’ Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (444,815 votes) and African Democratic Congress’ Najeem Salaam (17,180).

Adeleke maintained a strong lead throughout the collation process, finishing with a clear victory margin of 66,252 votes over Oyebamiji.

The data monitored via the International Centre for Investigative Reporting (ICIR) and INEC showed there were 2,339,233 registered voters, 1,906,390 collected PVCs, 1,010,684 accredited voters, 1,005,800 total votes cast, 985,079 valid votes, and 20,721 rejected ballots.

The Accord Party candidate dominated the map by conquering 19 out of the 30 Local Government Areas (LGAs) across Osun State. Adeleke locked in massive margins in his native strongholds of Ede North and Ede South while safely securing Osogbo, the state capital. On the other hand, the APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, captured the remaining 11 LGAs.

This milestone victory marks the first time that the Accord Party has successfully clinched a governorship seat in Osun State since its establishment twenty years ago.
