Nigerian singer and hip pop artiste, David Adeleke and Sophia Momodu, have taken to social media to address issues concerning the custody of their nine-year-old daughter, Imade.
Days before his wedding to Chioma Rowland, the singer took legal steps against Sophia by filing a suit at the Lagos State High Court to secure joint custody of Imade.
The suit marked LD/1587PMC/2024 and dated April 17, 2024, has Mr. David Adedeji Adeleke as the applicant and Ms Sophia Momodu as the sole respondent.
However, things have continued to turn sour as Sophia instantly took to her Instagram page to accuse David of failing in his responsibilities – including financial and morals – towards their child.
She also filed a 102-paged counter-suit, alleging that the singer has repeatedly failed to meet up with his financial obligations for the past two years.
According to details of the suit seen online by Daily Patriot, Sophia allegedly that David has continued to use Imade as bait to maintain an intimate relationship with her despite planning a wedding with Chioma.
Citing the death of Ifeanyi – Davido and Chioma’s son – Sophia accused the musician of being an “absentee father”, while also threatening to kidnap Imade from her care.
In his defence, David took to X to accuse Sophia of always using his son’s death to hunt him.
Ifeanyi died on October 31, 2023 – a few days after his third birthday – from drowning in the singer’s swimming pool while under the care of his Nanny.
The singer wrote, “Your constantly bringing up the death of my child at any point u can to just remind us of this tragedy that haunts us everyday of our lives ..
“Imade will grow up to see I fought for her .. as for now u can have her .. P.S she won’t be a child forever .. enjoy (love emoji) Imade Aurora Adeleke! Your father loves you!”
In another post, David said, “All I asked for was ‘joint custody’ but cus it’s davido yall wanna act like yall can’t read! SMH I’m off this … yall be blessed and I pray this never happens to you.”
