Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, joined by national team defender Shehu Abdullahi, paid a visit to National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman Shehu Dikko in Abuja, voicing his support for Dikko’s leadership and commitment to advancing Nigerian sports.
Musa, a seasoned leader of Nigeria’s national football team and the country’s all-time appearance record holder, expressed confidence in Dikko’s vision for the future of Nigerian athletics.
The visit on Monday November 11, 2024, comes as Dikko embarks on plans to enhance sports structures across the nation, aiming to provide more opportunities and resources for Nigerian athletes.
“I’m here to support the efforts of our NSC boss, Shehu Dikko, and wish him the very best,” Musa said. “I believe Dikko will lead sports in the right direction. On behalf of myself and the entire Super Eagles team, I pledge my loyalty and support to him.”
Musa recently played for Kano Pillars in a successful away match against Bendel Insurance, showcasing his continued dedication to Nigerian football both on and off the field. He explained that showing solidarity with Dikko was important to him, as the NSC Chairman seeks to elevate sports to new heights in Nigeria.
In response, Dikko expressed his gratitude for Musa’s endorsement, emphasising the importance of collaboration with top athletes to drive his initiatives forward. “Ahmed Musa’s, and indeed the Super Eagles players’ support is invaluable as we look to transform Nigerian sports,” Dikko said. “Our goal is to develop a system that values our athletes and provides a clear path for sports to thrive. Having distinguished players like Musa engaged in this process is key to achieving that,” he added.
Musa’s visit signals a unity of purpose between the NSC and Nigeria’s top athletes as they work together to foster a sports environment that supports talent development, boosts morale, and promotes Nigerian athletics on the global stage.
