The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has announced that its Director-General, Emomotimi Agama, will unveil the commission’s vision for the capital markets industry at the upcoming Capital Markets Committee (CMC) meeting.
According to a statement released on Thursday, the SEC revealed that the meeting is set to take place on August 14 in Lagos and aligns with President Bola Tinubuās āRenewed Hopeā agenda.
The event aims to develop strategies to enhance the capital market’s role in driving Nigeria’s economic growth and development.
The commission highlighted that the meeting will focus on attracting investments, improving market efficiency, and safeguarding investor interests.
It said the event will also bring together key stakeholders in the Nigerian capital market to discuss the current industry landscape, regulatory framework, and strategies for future growth.
It added that participants are expected to exchange ideas and reaffirm their commitment to fostering a robust investment climate marked by innovation, sustainability, and strong investor protection.
The meeting would focus on critical issues affecting the market and ensure that those concerns were thoroughly addressed,ā the statement reads.
āTo inform its deliberations, the committee will review reports from technical committees, market infrastructures, and industry observers. Emerging market trends will also be a focal point of discussion.
āThe meeting will draw CEOs from all registered capital market firms, including broker/dealers, investment advisers, custodians, fund/portfolio managers, and more.ā
