A 12-year-old Nigerian actor, Chibuchi Francis, has clinched a bronze medal in the Ages 11–12 Acting category at the 2026 World Championships of Performing Arts (WCOPA) in Nevada, United States.
Reacting to the result on LinkedIn on Sunday, Ambassador Lovethpatra White Ekufu, National Director of WCOPA Team Nigeria and Founder of Street2Fame Nigeria Performing Arts Entertainment, stated that the achievement demonstrates the immense potential of the nation’s youth when provided with appropriate backing.
“The bronze medal won by Chibuchi David Francis proves that Nigerian youths possess world-class talent,” Ekufu said, adding that young people excel on the world stage when given the opportunity to prepare and compete. She noted that the milestone should inspire emerging performers across the country while calling for expanded support for structured talent development.
Chibuchi’s international outing was sponsored by Street2Fame as part of a talent development initiative designed to expose gifted young Nigerians to global platforms. To build on this success, the organisation revealed plans to establish a nationwide development pipeline through state, zonal, and national championships, professional training programmes, and annual WCOPA participation, alongside future continental events across Africa.
Often dubbed the “Entertainment Olympics”, the WCOPA is an annual showcase designed to foster cultural exchange and creative excellence across acting, singing, dancing, modelling, and instrumental performance. The 2026 edition took place from July 13 to July 21 at the Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino, featuring contenders from more than 80 nations.
