The Federal Capital Territory Minister Nyesom Wike has welcomed Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara back into his political camp, declaring that “there is no sin in politics” following their recent reconciliation.
Speaking on Tuesday after inspecting road construction across the nation’s capital, Wike commended Fubara’s decision to return to his political roots. The minister maintained that the move would bolster support for President Bola Tinubu’s 2027 re-election bid.
“In politics, there is no sin,” Wike remarked when asked if the governor had been forgiven following their long-standing feud. “What matters is recognising that you were on the wrong path and making the right decision.”
Wike noted that he had previously predicted the governor’s eventual return, confirming that the political family has received him with open arms to work towards moving the state
forward and securing votes for the president.
The minister’s comments follow Fubara’s public announcement last week during the groundbreaking of the Rivien Medical Industry project in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area. The governor declared an end to political conflict in Rivers State, pledging his support for Wike’s Rainbow Coalition and endorsing President Tinubu for a second term.
During the same inspection tour, Wike expressed satisfaction with ongoing infrastructure work on the Apo-Karshi Road and the ISEX Road Corridor. He revealed that contractors expect the ISEX project to be ready for commissioning in December, provided funding remains steady.
Reaffirming his commitment to completing inherited projects, Wike stressed that true leadership requires finishing vital infrastructure rather than abandoning work started by previous administrations.
