Ambassador Nkechi Ufochukwu has officially taken up her post as Nigeria’s envoy to Israel following a ceremony at the presidential residence in Jerusalem, where she presented her Letters of Credence to President Isaac Herzog.
The milestone follows President Bola Tinubu’s approval of 65 ambassadorial postings, comprising 34 career diplomats and 31 political appointees, which were confirmed by the Senate in late 2025.
During the presentation, President Herzog welcomed the envoy and confirmed Israel’s willingness to collaborate with Nigeria on mutual priorities, highlighting innovation and counter-terrorism as key areas of focus.
Ufochukwu conveyed warm greetings from President Tinubu and the Nigerian public, outlining key priorities for her mission, including trade and investment, agriculture, healthcare, defense, technology, and cultural ties.
“I look forward to deepening ties between the two nations in my capacity as the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to the State of Israel,” Ufochukwu said. “Our focus will be on expanding cooperation for the mutual benefit of our peoples.”
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the formal accreditation underlines the Federal Government’s intent to reinforce the enduring partnership between both nations.
