Alia wins Benue APC guber primary by landslide

The Chairman of Benue State Governorship Primary Election Committee, Professor Mohammed Kabiru Isa on Friday declared Governor Hyacinth Alia as the winner of the governorship primaries.

The Chairman of Benue State Governorship Primary Election Committee, Professor Mohammed Kabiru Isa on Friday declared Governor Hyacinth Alia as the winner of the governorship primaries.

According to the results announced, Alia secured overwhelming figures to defeat the other two contestants, Terwase Orbunde and Jeffrey Kuranun.

Isa declared that the incumbent governor scored 367,786 votes to defeat the other contestants, Jeffery Kuranun and Terwase Orbunde who polled 2,923 and 3,247 votes respectively.

Alia who was present during the announcement of the results called on all party members to join hands with him

He said, “We are all APC members and we’re all working for the progress of the people of Benue State. I invite them to continue to join forces with me so that we would move the state forward from where we are today, once again, from grace to full Spirit of God.”

Alia also used the opportunity to thank those who voted for him, saying, “and to all those who were out there to do this franchise on me, I remain very grateful to them.

“And to the rest of the people in the state, I thank you for the continued support to this administration of ours. It is your government and you are the government. And it is my hope that your support will continue to come so that as I already pledged to ensure that progress comes in, development comes in, human capacity comes in,” he stated.
